Pamela Colby DHP DHA GQHP

Clinical Hypnotherapist

Having spent many years working within the Pharmaceutical and the Biomedical Science Industries, Pamela opted to redirect her interest in clinical studies and Psychology and focus on a more direct involvement with people.

After first hand experience of witnessing the side effects of drug therapy, Pamela wanted to explore complimentary therapy treatments.  This led to an interest in the remarkable success rates of Clinical Hypnotherapy, and after much research into this area, Pamela chose to change direction and explore this theraputic path.

Pamela is a Thanet based hypnotherapist who has become one of the first in the country to achieve a new national standard of excellence for her therapy.

Pamela has been registered by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare. The recognition places her at the forefront of a national drive to provide a benchmark for standards and safety for the public.

Practitioners registered with the CNHC meet national occupational standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, performance and ethics. Pamela said: "Achieving registration is not only great news for me and my clients, but a vital step for hypnotherapy."  By providing a verification of standards, the CNHC allows GPs, hospitals, private healthcare providers and insurance companies to refer patients to hypnotherapy practitioners or to make hypnotherapy more readily available in health centres, clinics, doctors' surgeries and hospitals.

There are drug therapies that have been developed to treat the majority of our  'killer' diseases.  With many types of cancer for example, there are now more people living with the disease than are dying from it.  In effect, turning a terminal disease into chronic illness.  Even where the outcome is uncertain, many sufferers can more easily come to terms with the inevitable, if only the pain can be alleviated.  The usefulness of a drug-free complimentary therapy (hypnotherapy) in palliative care and rehabilitation should never be underestimated.

Pamela studied at The Kent Institute of Clincal Hypnosis, studying a course written by the highly respected Hypnotherapist Terence Watts, (....Warriors, Settlers & Nomads....) graduating with a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and a Diploma in Hypnoanalysis.

She is currently registered with The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and has been awarded the General Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice.  As such she is required to attend Continuing Professional Develpment (CPD).

Pamela is based in Thanet, East Kent and operates from several locations within this vicinity.
